Facebook is of course a fantastic communication tool: knowing the participants at event, sharing its musical tastes or its political beliefs. It is exactly this abundance of information about the everyday life of the Internet users that makes Facebook a gold mine for the announcers. Indeed, in spite of all the qualities of the site, Facebook is not ashamed to sell your private life!
Indeed, when you connect on Facebook, an automatic recording of your browser and your address IP is made. Furthermore, they store certain information of your browser by using cookies (informations kept by the browser) which allow for instance to register your password. Facebook thus uses cookies to know exactly your use of the site and better target advertisements.
Finally, by publishing a contents on the site, you grant expressly to the society to use, copy, represent, spread, reformat, translate, extract and distribute these contents for commercial purposes, advertising agents, etc. on the site.
Be careful with Facebook, it is not just a means to know the life of others, it is also a means for the others to see all what you live.
“Others” can sometimes be unknown and unwanted persons …

From my personal point of view and above all, Twitter must be considered as a really useful tool for the growth of communication. The serious communication I mean, there is no need in using Twitter out of a professional use. Nowadays, communication is becoming a concept about information and speed and Twitter has been built on that purpose, it suits thus a lot with communication. Twitter enables us to inform ourselves about what is going on around the world and at a really high speed. With twitter, you can live the buzz at real time and be informed before everyone. Something you really do not want to miss? Thanks to Twitter, the information is immediate. Twitter can relate in live important events. For instance, it was the first to signal the forced landing of a plane in New York or the first to talk about the bombing in Bombay or still the elections in Iran. Medium from all over the world have quickly understood the interest that they could take from Twitter. Channels such as CNN or the BBC display flash info’s and put them as links on their website.
Furthermore, in the affairs domain, Twitter can be an extremely efficient and cheap tool offered to factories: put its products and its new services on the front line, create the buzz and get in touch with its clients.
Eventually, Twitter can also be seen as a competitive tool to catch trends and conversations of the moment.

Above all, it offers means to connect, interact and share informations between Internet surfers. These activities are not new on Internet but what has changed is the way people communicate and the tools they use to do it so.
First of all, we have the well known social websites such as Facebook or Twitter where the users discuss and share life details and discuss about what they are interested in everyday life.
It is here that the implication of companies in the social media has most impact. On the other hand, there are also more and more sites where social features are added to more traditional services and allow the users to make hear their opinions and to exchange them with the other users as well as with the organizations and the companies with which they make business. These features are from simple links to indicate that we “like” or “do not like” a product, an article or a short story until functions of comments with the possibility for the other users to give their appreciation to the comments of others.
This new reality involves that Internet users are now better informed and equipped that never. They exchange and talk about products and brands which they use everyday and share their good and/or bad experiences with their friends and relatives and those ones do it in turn. Eventually, news and information’s circulate faster and further than ever and to anyone who has access to a search engine such as Google.
Tu sum up, it is thus a crucial turn in the world of communication because it has modified the way organizations and companies act with their clients or audience.
